Interactive Portfolio

We are designing a interactive portfolio for the year show where people can browse for your previous work. We will need everyone to send in portfolio work just like what you did for portfolio and career development.
Id suggest sending in the best work per project and talk about it (don't write an essay, they'd want to have a quick look and move to the next one), send in up to 5 pieces of work (amended from 10) send them as jpeg and description in word doc, and all in one zip folder, do not send as PDF. I need it ASAP so we can get it done over the weekend. Year show is not far away now.

Banner Free Range Portfolio Updated

We need more work from you guys for the banners at the Free Range space, the REQUIREMENTS are 300dpi, CMYK, 44.67cm x 109.87cm (new size) but obviously this is a huge image so if you can send in separate files of your best work in a zip folder (remember the limits for each email is 10mb so split it if its too big) and we'll use the best one or make a collage of it. Dont for get it HAS to be part of the work that will be displayed at the year show. Send to treatyourself10@gmail.com.

It will look something like this
Free Range has a portfolio page on their website that let you upload your work for potential employers and access to your profile to change stuff i.e change/update your emails and such.
Download this file which has hyper link to the log in page, follow the instructions and text me on 078.543.790.32 for your password.

DONT FORGET TO SEND OUT INVITES

It can be both emailed or printed out and for that Josh has designed a generic invite for us all to use. It is compulsory for everyone to do this and also a chance to invite potential employers so dont miss out. Heres print ready PDF

Changes to About Me and extra funding.

Due to the change from leaflet to A6 cards for the year show we have now got a limited amount of space on the card for the "About Me". We need everyone to redo/resize their About Me to no more than 600 characters (with spaces), we are now measuring it in characters not words. (Word - Tools - Word Count - Characters (with spaces). People who has done theirs below the required amount of characters still need to resend to the year show email so we can easily keep track. This will need to be done URGENTLY.

Also we need another £25 as a third instalment for the year show within 4 weeks time (end of April). This is because we are not doing any fund raising (i.e people are too busy with their work, not bothered etc.)

Tuesday 22 March 2011

Urgent

Mike is doing a 3D layout of the Free Range space, this is to see what format of work goes where and we need EVERYONE to write to this email treatyourself10@gmail.com explaining what their final piece is going to be i.e installation, projector etc (based on the email from Janice for the Minor and D&aD). And we need this urgently, deadline is Thursday 24th March. If you don't then you'd be holding everyone back.

Also dont forget to send in work for the year show.

Monday 21 March 2011

Work for Year Show

Above is the layout of our card which will represent each of us in the year show and like the pick 'n' mix sweets, people can pick and mix work that they like in the show. The card is a A6 size, left side (picture) is the front which will have our sweet and right side is the back with our work, "about me" and contact details on it. So we need everyone to start sending in jpeg of their work for this part of the card, and deadline is 2 weeks from today (Mon 21st March).

The work will need to have all of these requirements:
1. A6
2. 300 dpi
3. CMYK
4. JPEG
5. related to the work that will be displayed in the show i.e if your major is a book, the work need to be one of the images/pages.

(send in 1 image preferably, but can be more if need be.)
all work send to: treatyourself10@gmail.com

"about me"

For the About Me section in the book, everyone need to do one for themselves outlining their interests, who you inspired by and any other stuff that would sell you as a designer. All had to fit in 100 - 130 words and all had to be completed and sent to treatyourself10@gmail.com for proof read before we are back to Uni in January. Make sure you all meet the deadline, it shouldn't take long. This applies to Graphic Media group as well.

A new selection of sweets will be on here shortly to replace the black & white, brown, the boring ones and the ones that are too big for the section.

Tuesday 9 November 2010

"we have a name"

We all have decided that "treat yourself" is our name for end of year degree show, have a go at designing a logo for it. Below are topics of what we've spoken about at today's meeting.
Budget Hugh has told us today that the budget from Uni for our exhibition space at Free Range has gone up from £3000 to roughly £4000. He has also said that we should spend about £1000 on our Brochure and £500 on stuff for the actual event i.e food, drink for guests and other expenses which will need to be addressed nearer the time.
We also have 5 volunteers who would go to the Free Range space at Brick Lane to check out the space for us and their travel expenses will be reimburse from the Uni, anyone else who wants to go will have to pay from their own pocket.
List of Volunteers
Oda Regine
Thanh Nguyen
Sam Whetton
Kai Bohannon
Oli Osbourne
Pictures will be taken of the space and uploaded on here.
Important Exhibition date is the 8th June.
Fund Raising Ideas Think of more ideas for fund raising and post it on here.
SangriĆ” Party at SU bar - Bar owner agreed to let us rent out her bar for fund raising.
Slave Auction - Third year being hired as personal helper for first and second year for few hours or a day.
Bake Sell - Ed and Helena have volunteered for this roll.
Screen Print on canvas bags - Sell at Uni shop or other shops in town.
Adsense - Get paid from Google for traffic and advertisement through our website/blog ect.
Advertising - Rent out spaces on our brochure/website to companies.
Because of the name "treat yourself" we have relate ourselves to sweet. Over 30 names of sweets has been selected and picked out of a hat, each of the sweet will represent one of us and has been chosen at random, unless you can think of a sweet that you like better - it has to be unbranded and doesn't match any of the sweet chosen by other members of the group.

"treat yourself"

"Treat Yourself" is another group name that Josh and Sean came up with recently. Have a go at analysing this name as well as the other names from the meeting on Monday. Josh has also thought that it would be good to see visuals mock ups for the names you have chosen and the reason why you choose it. What we could do is to put people who has chosen the same names into groups, for example, say there was top 4 names so there would be 4 groups pitching a name and concept each, hopefully by the end of the meeting we will get some results.

Anyone who would like to post ideas/concepts on to the blog need a google account. Here's how, go to blogger.com - click create new blog - sign up using your existing email (i.e yourname@hotmail.com), this will be registered as a google account. Send the email to Thanh or post it on here and I will add you to the admin list.

Group Meeting on 25th October at 5pm, please attend.

3rd year blog

First of all, we need a list of people who are interested in having the end of year show, comment on here and join the facebook page so we know. If there are over 50% of us then we should have it for the job opportunities as well as learning to presenting work in a public space.

Space will be rented from Free Range (check them out), uni will cover most of the renting expense but there are other expenses we need to cover for example, money to print out brochures, food and drinks for guests, travel and so if this year show happens we will need to contribute money towards it, some suggests giving in a pound each week, raise money by having events at the SU bar, sell of art work..ect. So if you have any good ideas please post it on here.
